A little about our dogs

We have the traditional Beagles, also some rare Harriers and Swiss Hounds.  You will be able to choose a hunt with any one of the breeds or a combination of the dogs.

Our beagles can really get the job done. They run in any conditions and have had 100's of rabbits shot in front of them. Our 3 older ones are affectionately called the chain gang, They are training their replacements now.

When the snow gets to deep we swap to one of the longer legged breeds.

The Harrier looks like a big beagle and can really get the rabbits running.

To start my Harrier pack I have brought over 6 English Stud Book Harriers from Eng. It is a work in progress.  The Harriers should be ready for this winter.

I recently started training my first Swiss hound.  But from what he has shown me and from what I've seen others of the breed do he will not be my only one. I have plans to get more in the near future. They are slower than the Harrier but about the same size. For some people the Swiss would be a better dog to shot over because the rabbit will not be going quit as fast. The Swiss has a reputation of having one of the best noses out there so they start a lot of bunnies.

In our part of Maine we can get a lot of Snow and the longer legged breeds can make a difference of hunting or not.
